Bonnie's Fall

Jasper's Reactivity & Inflammatory Skin Condition

Jasper's Reactivity & Inflammatory Skin Condition

On the 14th of November, Bonnie was playing with her doggie friend and accidentally slipped over on a pile of wet leaves. She was running at high speed, causing her to hit the ground extremely hard. As she was full of adrenaline, she acted like everything was fine. It wasn’t until she got home that she showed the real extent of her injuries. She began coughing and retching on and off for about an hour, presumable due to whiplash when she fell. She was also frantically licking her legs, stomach and groin area. She had some very minor grazes on her back legs and a large wound on the inside of her right hind leg, near her stifle/groin area.

Jasper's Reactivity & Inflammatory Skin Condition

Meet Jasper, a 4–5-year-old mixed breed rescue dog, who lives in the Azores, Portugal. Jasper was living in a rescue centre with his sister, and he was adopted at 5 months old, as a companion for Sofi (their guardian’s other dog). When Jasper was younger, he enjoyed going on fun walks with his family. However, as he grew, he developed reactivity, prey drive and fear-aggression towards other animals especially unknown dogs. Jasper's tendency to escape and chase livestock, resulted in his guardian feeling unable to take him for walks at the risk of being pulled over or losing control of him.

Romeo's Melanoma Causing Rectal Prolapse

Jasper's Reactivity & Inflammatory Skin Condition

Romeo's Melanoma Causing Rectal Prolapse

Romeo is a Dutch Warmblood gelding, and he will be 24 years old on the 15th April 2023. I was contacted by his guardian after his pre-existing Melanoma rapidly increased in size over night causing him to struggle to pass stools. The emergency vet had been called to treat him and he was diagnosed with a minor rectal prolapse due to the pressure from the Melanoma and from Romeo straining to pass stools. Romeo was given pain relief and a medication to help loosen his stool to make them easier for him to pass. Therefore, his guardian wanted to see if Romeo wanted to select any plant extracts that might support his recovery and help the Melanoma reduce in size.

Smudge the Super Selector

Pudding the Trancing Piggy

Romeo's Melanoma Causing Rectal Prolapse

Smudge is a female Tortoise Shell cat and is approximately 4 ½ years old.  I had the pleasure of working with her to gain my AcuAromatic qualification as part of my continuing professional development. Smudge’s guardians were concerned about the amount of water she would drink daily and that she showed signs of having some sensitivity when being touch on her back. Smudge’s guardians consulted their vet, and she had a blood test that came back with all healthy levels. Therefore, her guardians were curious to see if Smudge wanted to select and plant extracts.

Pudding the Trancing Piggy

I was called to see Pudding, a 2-year-old male Skinny (Guinea) Pig, who had recently had an incident in his enclosure that sent him ‘thrashing’ around in the middle of the night. Once he had calmed down it became apparent to his guardian that he was ‘not him-self’, he was once a confident ‘piggy’ and now was hiding in a corner refusing to venture into the other ¾ of his enclosure. Over the next 2 days he started to show signs of being constipated, with reduced appetite.

Bonnie's Benign Growth

Pudding the Trancing Piggy

Pudding the Trancing Piggy

On the 9th August 2022, I found a small growth on my dog Bonnie’s front leg. The growth looked similar to a blood blister, as Bonnie was not bothered by the small growth I decided to leave it alone and monitor. However, a few weeks later the growth bleed and got bigger. Bonnie was now starting to lick and chew at the growth, which caused it to bleed another two times, each time getting slightly bigger. At this point I decided to take her to the vet to get it looked at. The vet was confident that is was a benign growth, but due to its location it would need to be surgically removed soon. Having the reassurance from the vet that the growth was unlikely to be sinister, I went straight home and did a meridian balance assessment for her.
