APA Advanced AcuAromatics: Feline Case Study

Animal PsychAromatica (APA) is a natural health system founded by Nayana Morag. Within this system, an animal is looked at in a holistic way, taking into account his/her element type by using the Traditional Chinese Medicine Five Element Theory, past history and present condition as well as addressing any underlying causes of stress that may be affecting the animal. Aromatics are then offered to the animal through self-selection, to allow the animal to rebalance his/her own mental, physical and emotional state. AcuAromatics is the practice of combining Animal PsychAromatica and animal acupressure together to support animal wellness.

clIENT CASE STUDY

Smudge the Super Selector

Smudge is a female Tortoise Shell cat and is approximately 4 ½ years old.  I had the pleasure of working with her to gain my AcuAromatic qualification as part of my continuing professional development. Smudge’s guardians were concerned about the amount of water she would drink daily and that she showed signs of having some sensitivity when being touch on her back. Smudge’s guardians consulted their vet, and she had a blood test that came back with all healthy levels. Therefore, her guardians were curious to see if Smudge wanted to select any plant extracts.

Life History

Smudge early life history is unknown as she was found as a stray. She turned up in her now guardians back garden in 2019. During this time the family have been through several losses both human and animal. Smudge is a very sensitive and nurturing cat and took will have left these losses deeply as did her family as she had a close bond with all.  Smudge has also been feeling stressed due to the presence of multiple intact male cats entering her garden.

Current Diet

  • Natures Variety Free Range Chicken
  • Wet cat food pouches of varying proteins
  • Dreamie's cat treats

Dietary recommendations

I recommended adding is some fresh foods to enhance her current diet such as:

  • Cooked chicken, turkey, rabbit, quail and organ meats (liver, kidney or heart)
  • Whitefish, sardines
  • Wheat or barley grass

Lifestyle recommendations

I recommended that Smudge's food bowl should be placed at a lower height to limit the amount of jumping she does while her back is sensitive.

Guardian's Feedback

"Smudge thoroughly enjoys her sessions she has come on leaps and bounds and is so open to natures healing its so gorgeous to watch. I think she has also massively improved over her back it is so much less sensitive and some days there is no reaction over her back at all which is fantastic. I'm so thrilled with the results. It's also amazing to watch how smudge changes from session to session in her different selections and needs each week." - Sarah Lambert

Teacher's Feedback

"It’s a wonderful example of the power of aromatics and acupressure. It is beautiful to watch Kirsty work with such patience and respect for her client, and simply lovely to watch Smudge guide her healing sessions. This is what we are all about. Kirsty is a graduate of Animal PsychAromatica and the AcuAromatics advanced course, and student I am very proud of."
